Collaborate '08, the Oracle users group mega conference, is just around the corner. Ear on Oracle caught up with Ari Kaplan, CEO and president of the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) for a look ahead to which sessions to look out for at the conference in Denver April 13-17. The IOUG, along with other user groups that are now under the Oracle umbrella, including the Oracle Applications User Group (OAUG) and Quest International, the JD Edwards User Group, are hosting the show.

In this 15-minute podcast, Kaplan will discuss:

  • The future of Oracle user groups
  • What's on tap for database 11g at the show
  • How Oracle users can plan for Fusion and Oracle's Application Integration architecture
  • Where users who aren't coming to the annual conference can get the sort of information that will be presented.

Kaplan has been involved with the Oracle community since 1992 when he worked for Oracle "as a firefighter on some of their implementations." After leaving that job he became an independent consultant and the co-author of several books on Oracle. Kaplan was also the founder and CEO of Expand Beyond Corp., a maker of mobile database management software.
