Oracle today announced plans to purchase Lodestar Corp., a provider of meter data management and competitive energy software for the utilities industry.
"With the addition of Lodestar's products, Oracle plans to deliver the most comprehensive suite of mission-critical operational systems for all segments of the utilities industry, combining meter data management, load profiling, pricing, marketing, sales, customer care, billing, analytics and management of the networks, work force, assets and business-to-business transactions," Larry Hagewood, senior vice president and general manager of Oracle's utilities business unit, said in a press release.
Oracle said it expects to close the deal in May. Financial details were not disclosed.
Oracle has purchased nearly 30 companies over the last three years, including CRM giants PeopleSoft Corp. and Siebel Systems Inc., and more recently business intelligence vendor Hyperion Solutions Corp. and Tangosol Inc., a provider of in-memory, caching data grid software.
