A recent Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) survey found that not only do the majority of Oracle database administrators (DBAs) expect their database storage needs to grow in a major way in 2007, but they also believe that they'll be doing much of the work associated with managing stored data -- a job historically reserved for storage managers.

SearchOracle.com caught up with IOUG president Ari Kaplan to discuss the factors at play which are driving the increase in database storage requirements and to find out what Oracle and non-Oracle tools are available to help DBAs manage storage more efficiently. In this Podcast interview, Kaplan also previews next month's Collaborate '07 conference -- one of the biggest Oracle user conferences of the year -- where you can bet that database storage management will be a hot topic.
