QUESTION POSED ON: 06 February 2004
We are looking at upgrading our production 11.5.4 instance on Solaris to 11.5.9 in the very near future. We found that the complete 11.5.9 maintenance pack with the pre and post install steps took us almost four days including the database upgrade to 8.1.7.4 and HR Family pack G. This was on our user acceptance instance and the size of the database is 250 GB. What is the industry norm in terms of time being taken to complete a 11.5.9 migration?

I think you are to be congratulated. Four days is excellent. I would be interested in how long you allowed for testing the upgrade, and the applications functionality afterward. The verification and validation of an upgrade should also be considered in your timing.
