EXPERT RESPONSE
If you want to get off with spending little money,
then I suggest going the Linux route. You can get
Linux for free. Or you can pay a small amount to one
of the many Linux distributors. I'd suggest SuSE or
Mandrake Linux if you are running Oracle. You can then
download a copy of Oracle from Technet
(http://technet.oracle.com) for the Linux platform.
Another good Unix is Solaris on Intel. It's free and
can be downloaded from Sun's web site
(http://www.sun.com). But Oracle 9i is not available
on Solaris for Intel. So you'll have to come up with
an older copy of Oracle (8i) on this platform. But you
can only get 9i from Oracle Technet.
