QUESTION POSED ON: 27 May 2008
Aside from OPatch, we can check $ORACLE_HOME/cpu to also verify the CPU patch level applied in the defined home. How can I find the CPU patch level applied to the particular database? Let's say I can't find the log file when catcpu.sql was run. What can I do?

EXPERT RESPONSE
The only tool I know of to use is the OPatch Utility. Basically, OPatch updates the oraInventory contents. When you use OPatch to see what has been applied, it queries the Inventory. Keep in mind that this does not show you if the catcpu.sql script was run against the database. I know of no view in Oracle that will tell you if this script was run.
