QUESTION POSED ON: 28 January 2008
I am new at installing Oracle 11i. We bought the Server and now I have to install Red Hat Linux on it for the Oracle11i installation. What is the partition requirement on the Linux OS if the disk space is 292GB (how do I partition the hard drive?). Thank you.

I would highly recommend reading the Oracle Installation Guide for 11g for the Linux platform.

This document goes through, step by step, how to set up the OS for an Oracle installation and even helps you install the software and create the database. If you go through this guide and ensure that each step is met, then your installation will be successful. Most installations that encounter problems are due to missing one or more of these documented steps.
