QUESTION POSED ON: 18 January 2008
I have a requirement in my project where we have one Master DB and 13 satellite DBs. I want to replicate the update to the Master DB only to one particular satellite based on the value of a column which will exist in all the tables, called the satellite_id. From my research, I think this can be done using Streams. Is it possible, and is this the best approach?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Oracle is marketing Streams as a replacement for the replication, and yes, this should be your first approach. However, I found it to be slightly troublesome, especially if you have very large volume of DML activity.
