We have to migrate from Oracle 8.1.7 to Oracle 10.2.0 using the exp/imp utility. Please let us know the checklist for export from Oracle 8.1.7 and for importing to Oracle 10.2.0. (Please include partition tables, DB character set, data type.) Current Oracle 8.1.7 char set is WE8ISO8859P1.

To migrate from one version to another, I rely on only one document, the Oracle Upgrade Guide for your destination version. The 10g Upgrade Guide details all of the steps you will need to follow, including many of the pitfalls of upgrades. So please read this documentation. Pay close attention to the Pre-Upgrade Information Tool section. Chapter 2 details what to do before the upgrade while Chapter 4 details what to do after the upgrade.
