QUESTION POSED ON: 17 July 2007
I am really confused about taking the exams for Oracle certification. I am planning to take 1Z0-007. Is this exam for both Oracle 9i and 10g?
Also, I would like to take certification in Oracle 10g (certified PL/SQL Developer). Which exam should I take to acheive this? Could you please tell me the path I have to follow?

And aboutt the courses: do I have to take it before writing the exam? Is it necessary to attend the course to get the certificate?

The test you are taking is for Intro to Oracle 9i: SQL and PL/SQL. Currently, there is only one path for the Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA, and that includes taking either 1Z0-007 or 1Z0-001 first, then taking 1Z0-147. Once you pass these tests and become OCA, you can take one more test, 1Z0-141, to become OCP. So, I think to answer your questions, there is no differentiation between the developer path for 9i or 10g and you are indeed taking the right test.
