QUESTION POSED ON: 15 June 2007
Brian,
You said it is not recommended to install Oracle binary files on a SAN in a RAC environment. What about a non-RAC environment where there is only one Oracle instance and server connected to one SAN? Are there any performance issues concerning SAN install verses internal drive install? I am talking Red Hat Linux. Thanks.

EXPERT RESPONSE
You can install the Oracle software on a SAN volume. And you should not have performance problems. Is there a specific reason why you want to install ORACLE_HOME on a SAN disk? My personal preference, in non-RAC environments, is to install this on a locally attached disk. Unless I had a specific reason to do otherwise, I would not. However, for non-RAC environments, this is just a preference.
