QUESTION POSED ON: 11 June 2007
Hi Bill. Is it possible (without application of RAC or parallel servers) in Oracle 9i database to configure two listeners, say listner1 and listner2, with different port numbers say, 1521 and 1526, and connect one group of end users via listner1 and others via listner2?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
Yes, you may have multiple listeners for the same instance listening on different ports. You can define them in the same listener.ora file. You will have to create different connection strings for the same instance in the tnsnames.ora file and use this as the reference to have your clients connect to the instance you prefer.

Here is some detail on configuration.
