QUESTION POSED ON: 23 May 2007
Greetings! I was just wondering, can I see the tablespace utilization and the current database size of my database even though the Oracle user account I'm using does not have DBA privileges? Thanks. By the way, I'm using Oracle 9i.

EXPERT RESPONSE
You can if your Oracle account has the Select Any Dictionary system privilege or the Select_Catalog_Role role granted to it. Either one of these privileges will allow you to query the DBA_DATA_FILES and DBA_FREE_SPACE system views so you can get that information. If not, you will need your DBA to grant one of those privileges to your account.
