From your description, it sounds as thought the installation has completed but there are problems creating a database. Depending on how far along the creation process gets before it errors, you can review the alert log to gather further information. The other place to look is the logs produced by the DBCA (Database Configuration Assistant). These should also give you further information about the database creation process and help to troubleshoot the problem.
