QUESTION POSED ON: 08 May 2007
I have Oracle 9i Database installed on my machine (the OS is Windows XP). I have downloaded Oracle Forms 6i and Oracle Reports 6i on my machine. How can I install them? It asks for a separate home name and location, what should I give?

Of concern here is not what to call the subsequent ORACLE_HOMEs during the installation of Forms 6i and Reports 6i, but the fact that neither of these products are supported on the Windows XP operating system. Oracle 9i release 2, however, is supported on Windows XP. Another consideration is certification of both Forms and Reports with the database tier. Refer to Oracle's Certification Matrix for further information.

Having said that, for both Oracle Forms 6i and Reports 6i, the accompanying documentation available on Oracle's Technology Network (OTN) clearly discusses ORACLE_HOME considerations. Review the Oracle Forms Developer Release 6i "Getting Started for Windows" Guide. Of particular interest is Section 1.3, "Where to Install: ORACLE_HOME Considerations." As well, the Oracle Reports Developer Release 6i for Windows Guide has a section (1.3) titled "Where to Install Oracle."
