EXPERT RESPONSE
Well, despite Oracle's claims to you, I know for sure you aren't the only
shop using LLT <raises hand>.
If I had something that was working and was supported by Oracle, I would be
hesitant to switch to something else without a persuasive business case. I
understand Oracle does its development and testing on UDP, and I know some
are worried about their support division blaming unrelated problems on the
use of LLT when working TARs, but there are also many people who swear that
LLT's reduced overhead and lower latency is vital to their configurations.
I am a fan of Veritas, and assuming this is a working configuration I would
not change a thing unless forced to through a desupport notification or the
like. If I were designing a new system and could not make a business case
for the requirement of Veritas's Storage Foundation, I would give
significant weight to Oracle's desired transport protocols when architecting
the initial design.
I hope this helps.
