How does the tkprof utility work for SQL tuning?

EXPERT RESPONSE
The tkprof utility formats a SQL trace file. It performs aggregation, summarization, sorting (optionally) and in general presents the information from the raw trace file in a much more readable and understandable format. To see what options tkprof offers, simply type tkprof by itself at a command prompt; tkprof will display a list of its options and their meanings.
