QUESTION POSED ON: 11 January 2007
We have an Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) database running on Solaris 10 on two-node RAC. We have already set up OCR and voting disk during installation. We need to change the physical path of OCR and voting to a new location. Could you please let me know the procedure and the impact, if any, of changing the same? Will it have any impact on the database running?

To move the OCR you need to stop the CRS stack, edit the ocr.loc file with the new location, use ocrconfig -restore to restore a physical backup of the file to the new location, and restart the CRS stack.

You can change the voting disk location by adding and deleting the entries using crsctl with the nodes down.

There is no long-term impact on your database as long as you remain within the original requirements (shared disks, etc).

Good luck,
Bill
