QUESTION POSED ON: 09 October 2006
I had installed Oracle 10 XE on my computer, but I deinstalled it. Doing so, I think I erased more registry keys than necessary, because when I tried to reinstall it, Windows showed the message: "error: 1612 The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it." Help! I don't know what to do now.

Did you uninstall the Oracle software using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI)? The best way to uninstall Oracle is to use the Installer because it clears out relevant registry entries, along with the inventory and operating system files. This error is a Windows error so there is likely some crucial information missing or corrupted in your registry. Start the OUI and uninstall all Oracle products, then try the installation again.
