QUESTION POSED ON: 24 July 2006
I am using Oracle 10g. My problem is when I start analyzing a schema, my application stops working. I've tried many times with the same problem. Any suggestions?

EXPERT RESPONSE
The process of gathering table and index statistics is CPU and I/O intensive, and does cause a fair amount of locking, so you should schedule this process during times when the application is not active.
