QUESTION POSED ON: 05 June 2006
I have downloaded patch #2973634 for Windows 2000 Advanced Server for Oracle 9.2.0.3, and I have installed Oracle 9.2.0.1 on my machine. Now my problem is how to apply this patch? I have upgraded my OUI as per readme.txt but now I am not able to apply the patch, as when I unzip this patch I get two directories. One is "ETC" and the other is "FILE," and I don't find any installer/setup file in these dirctories. Please guide me on how to apply this patch? Thanks.

After upgrading the OUI, you can start the installer from your ORACLE_HOME or from where you unzipped the patch. Navigate through the installation screens until you are asked for a source. At this time, browse to where you have unzipped the patch and you should see a file called products.xml or products.jar. Click this file and the installer will apply the patch. Ensure that you first shut down all databases and listeners using this ORACLE_HOME, and that you have a backup of all your databases and software in case the patch application fails.
