Migrating SQL Server 2000 db on Windows to Oracle 10g on Linux |

We are planning to migrate a SQL Server 2000 database (running on Windows 2003 Server) to Oracle 10g on Linux (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9). We read in the Oracle Migration Workbench Release Notes 10.1.0 for Microsoft Windows 98/2000/NT/XP and Linux x86, Part No. B15858-01, January 2005, that Migration Workbench Release 10.1.0 for Linux enables you to migrate the following databases to an Oracle 10g, Oracle9i or Oracle8i database:
- Informix Dynamic Server 7.3
- Informix Dynamic Server 9.x (Oracle Migration Workbench Beta)
- MySQL 3.22, 3.23, 4.x
- Sybase Adaptive Server 11, 12
My question: Is it possible for the database to work with SQL Server 2000 at all? If not, are there any other solutions for this migration?

You are correct -- it appears that the latest version of the Oracle Migration Workbench (10.1.0.4.0) for Linux cannot migrate a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database to Oracle9i or 10g. I'm sure there are other third-party products available to do this, although I have not used any of them so I cannot speak to their quality or ease of use. Contact other DBAs in your community to determine whether they have purchased other products to do this, and also search the Internet.
