I'm interested in how statistics are pulled up for locks on tables. I'm getting ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified after trying to rebuild an index. I was trying to rebuild five - the first I received ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace, and the remaining four got the ORA-00054 message instead. I'd like to identify the lock.

Have a look at my Web site. There is a white paper titled "Solving User Problems." In that paper, I give details on how to determine what sessions are locking what objects. One thing missing from that paper is the V$LOCKED_OBJECT view, which was not available when I wrote the paper. This view can show you who is locking which object.
