QUESTION POSED ON: 25 April 2005
I'm working with an HP Unix server with a Oracle 7 server that has forms with the extension .fmr -- a very old version when forms were saved with the database. My hard disk is full. I now have a new Sun Solaris server, and I need to take my database, forms and reports from the HP server and download it onto the new server. Can you please advice me on the best way to accomplish this task?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Export and import. Then, rewrite all your old forms -- 3 or whatever old version
in a new version. I have seen third-party (non-Oracle) tools that claim they
are able to upgrade very old forms applications to the latest release of
forms. I'm sure a Google search will turn up one or more of them if they're
still around. I doubt very much that your old forms will work on any recent
release of the database.
