a good DBA, in my opinion, has to be:
1) A very orderly person (to keep everything in order)
2) Very thorough
3) Have a great deal of knowladge in SQL (ANSI, SQL-2, SQL-3, Microsoft SQL)
4) Familiar with all database objects and internal processes
5) Have a good memory. (That helps in doing complicated queries and
database statements without referring to the books.)
6) Know how to program in PL/SQL ,TSQL, Informix SQL language and
all kinds of SQL programming languages.
7) Know database modeling and system analysis
8) Have some programming knowledge
9) Have some operating systems and network knowledge
10) Supported programming projects in the past - an advantage
