QUESTION POSED ON: 09 December 2002
I have Personal Oracle 8 on my PC, and I want to install Oracle 9i professional. Shall I format my PC before installing the new version (9i) or just upgrade it? I need your suggestion. Bear in mind that I am running my PC on the Windows 2000 platform.

EXPERT RESPONSE

If you no longer want to use the Personal Oracle 8 version you have, simply uninstall it before installing 9i. If you want to continue to use it, just leave it alone and install 9i into a new ORACLE_HOME.
