Why do I get an Oracle not available error with Oracle 8i on Windows?

Are you getting an Oracle not available error when trying to use Oracle 8i on Windows 2003? Learn why in this tip from expert Brian Peasland.

I have installed Oracle 8i on Windows 2003 on my PC. For the first time it worked fine but as I restart my PC I get ora-1067 (Oracle not available error occurred). Please tell me how to resolve this error.
Oracle 8i is not certified on Windows 2003 and you may get errors like this. Please install Oracle 10g or higher on Windows 2003.
