How to find which databases are available on my server?

If you are running Oracle on Windows, go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Look for services with the name format OracleServiceSID. The SID is your database name.

If you are running Oracle on Unix or Linux, then look for a file called oratab in either /var/opt/oracle or /etc. This file contains an entry for all databases on the server.
