Where does the CKPT process write to?

Does the CKPT process write to redo log files or archived log files?

The CKPT process is responsible for updating the datafile headers and the control files in response to a checkpoint operation. The process that writes to the online redo log files is the LGWR (log writer) process. If the log fills up, the ARCn (archiver, where n is a number) process copies the online redo log file to an archive file.
