Q

What should I know before applying patches?

I am planning to apply patches 684295 and 693553. I'm running Oracle Applications version 11.5.10. I need to know what things should be done before applying the patches. If the patches go wrong, what will be the implications on the applications?

When you download a patch or bug fix from Oracle's Metalink Web site, it will be accompanied by a readme.txt file or some type of documentation that explains the steps you need to take pre- and post-installation. It should also describe the patching process. If the instructions in this file are not clear, I would recommend opening an iTAR with Oracle and they will guide you through the process.
