Using HINTS in SQL tuning

I have an issue in SQL tuning. I was told that using HINTS SQLs can be tuned. But I don't know which HINT has to be used.

I have an issue in SQL tuning. I was told that using HINTS SQLs can be tuned. But I don't know which HINT has to be used. Please let me know which HINT should be used and how it can be determined?
