We have Oracle 9.2.0.4 running on Red Hat AS 2.1. We are considering upgrading the operating system to Red Hat AS 3.0 or Red Hat AS 4.0. Oracle 9.2.0.4 appears to be certified on Red Hat AS 3.0 but I'm not sure if there are any steps that need to be done to protect Oracle 9.2.0.4 and have it work on Red Hat AS 3.0? Also, is it true that Oracle 9.2.0.4 is not certified on Red Hat AS 4.0? Oracle documentation isn't the best. Thanks.

According to Oracle's certification matrix, Oracle Enterprise Edition release 9.2 is certified for both Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 3 and 4. With Red Hat Linux AS/ES 4, however, the certified patchsets are listed as 9.2.0.5 to 9.2.0.8 (projected Q3CY2006) so you may want to consider patching your database to 9.2.0.5 first, and then upgrading your operating system.
