I am trying to manage my database through the Enterprise Manager Console from a remote machine, but when I try to open it an error generates: "VTK-1000 UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE MANAGEMENT SERVER. PLEASE VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE ENTERED THE CORRECT HOST NAME AND THE STATUS OF THE ORACLE MANAGEMENT SERVER."
This message means that the Enterprise console could not connect to the Oracle Management Server because it was either busy or has not been started. From the client, confirm the following:
- Verify that the hostname for the OMS you are trying to connect to is correct.
- Confirm that you can reach the OMS from the client via TCP/IP.
From the management server, confirm that it has been started. If the management server will not start it may be necessary to turn on logging and check the OMS log to determine what the cause of the failure is.
