Setup for 10g Grid at home-based lab

I want to prepare Oracle 10g Grid (RAC) at a home-based lab. Which OS, Linux, Unix or Windows, should I use? I have one Intel Pentium D 940 with 2 GB Ram and a total of four NIC ports available, one hard disk and Asus P5WD2 Premium motherboard. What else should I purchase to start my lab? Should I buy two to three similar systems with three to four NIC ports, two eight-port GB switches, disk array, etc.?

I would use Linux for my test platform. The biggest reason is that RAC requires cluster software and you can obtain the Oracle Clustered Filesystem (OCFS) from Technet for free. This document shows how to set up a test system on Linux with external USB disk devices. You can use it as a guide for your system.
