Setting up OS authentication for different servers and operating systems

Is it possible to set up OS authentication when OS and Oracle DB are in different servers and different operating systems?

I have an IBM server with Windows 2003 server OS installed, and all my OS user accounts reside in this. I also have a Sun Fire server (Solaris9) on which I have installed an Oracle10g database. now I want to set up OS authentication in Oracle. Is it possible to set up OS authentication when OS and Oracle DB are in different servers and different operating systems?
