Running Oracle on Windows XP

My PC is running Windows XP Media Center SP2. I was about to install Oracle on my system and one of my friends told me that it will not work properly with Win XP -- is that true?

My PC is running Windows XP Media Center SP2. I was about to install Oracle on my system and one of my friends told me that it will not work properly with Win XP -- is that true? If so, kindly give a solution or a workaround.

Oracle 9.2 and above are supported releases for the Windows XP platform; however, Oracle very clearly states that...

it only certifies on Windows XP Professional. You may be able to install Oracle successfully on Windows XP Media Center and create a database, etc., but if you do run into problems Oracle may not be able to assist you because you are on an unsupported operating system.

The certfication matrix can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html.
