Q

Resetting default host string

I'm working with 9i installed on my workstation, and for some time I could sign on without a host string. I recently added a second database for testing and if I left the host string blank, it went to the new database. Now that I have deleted the second database, I need to type in the host string to connect to my original database. Is there a way to reset this default string?
You'll want to fire up your workstation's registry editor (regedit). Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareOracleHOME0. Make sure that the ORACLE_SID registry key is set to the old instance name.
