Receiving "execute permission denied" warning during installation

I am trying to install Oracle 9i on HPUX (11.11i). When I execute the runInstaller file, the system gives the warning "execute permission denied." I am executing through OSDBA group user. I have tried the CHMOD 777 command for the runInstaller file. The root user has given all the rights to OSDBA group user. I need your help.

You should first ensure that the appropriate binaries have been downloaded for your operating system. I have seen this error when attempting to install binaries on one operating system (e.g., HPUX) that are meant for a different operating system (e.g., Solaris). If you're sure the binaries are correct, check to ensure that the CD is mounted correctly. If you're working from a staging area rather than a CD, ensure that the oracle user and the dba group own all the files in the staging area.

The best place to look for installation information is on Oracle Technology Network. The original Oracle documentation will take you through the installation process step by step. You can review the Oracle9i Installation Guide Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for UNIX systems at this location.
