I am trying to apply Patch Release 188.8.131.52.0 on Patch Set 184.108.40.206 for Windows, but while installing the patch, it is showing an error message: "The following running services need to be shut down before continuing." However I have shut down the Oracle9i database and stopped all the Oracle services (listener, agents, http server, etc.) as mentioned in the patch note. In the error window it is showing to shut down all the services which are in status "Started" in the services window. Can you help me to install the 220.127.116.11 patch? I am stuck with this and cannot go ahead with my work without installling the patch.
It is possible that there is still a service running from the ORACLE_HOME that you are trying to patch. On occasion, service properties are modified to restart when they fail or are shut down. If you right-click on a service and choose Properties, then choose the Recovery tab, you will see there are options to take certain actions if the service fails. Check to see that these are set to "Take no action," otherwise they may start up on their own even though you have successfully shut them down.
