Q

ORA-12514 error after changing port for LISTENER.ORA and TNSNAMES.ORA

Actually I'm using the default port 1521 in my LISTENER.ORA and TNSNAMES.ORA files. I want to change it to something else. I changed it in both Listener.ora and TNSnames.ora then restarted the instance. Now, when I try to connect to the database, I get the ORA-12514 error.
The ORA-12514 indicates that the listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor. Basically, it means that the service name you denoted in the CONNECT_DATA set of parameters, in your TNSNAMES.ORA file could not be found in your Listener's configuration. You need to either verify that this entry is correct in your TNSNAMES.ORA file or your LISTENER.ORA file.
