I have Oracle 10.2 on a Solaris. Oracle binaries are on a local disk mounted as /u01 (along with many datafiles, etc), which we are moving to SAN. Is it OK to shutdown all Oracle services, then just move all local /u01 to /u01 on SAN and just startup the database? My main question is: Can Oracle binaries be moved like that?
Yes, you can move the files like this so long as the path name does not change. In Unix, it does not matter if the files are on local disk or SAN disk.
