My database has on several occasions been forced to shut down with an LGWR error, "ORA-00470 process terminated." This error is followed by ORA-06512. This happens when running batch processes.
This forces us to manually recover the database for Oracle to be accessible again. Perhaps there are some tuning issues to be addressed? Which could they be and how could I go about it?
I don't think this is a tuning issue. If your log writer (LGWR) process is terminating with an error, there's a serious problem with your server instance, and I'd advise contacting Oracle Support for help.
