you can't move an instance from one machine to another unless they use the same name an IP. When AS installs it configures Web addresses to use that machine. I have even seen an installation broken by trying to change the domain. You need to install the instance on the machine that it will be running. For versions of AS prior to 10g you could not used a DNS to assign an IP to the server. This, again is due to the fact that the instance has references set during the installation.
