The best place to find Oracle documentation is on Oracle Technology Network. If you have not already done so, you will need to register and create an account to access the documentation--creating an account is free. On OTN, you will find extensive documentation for Oracle 10g and previous releases.

I will assume that you are planning to install Oracle 10g. The two documents you will be most interested in reviewing are:

  • Oracle Database Quick Installation Guide,10g Release 1 (10.1) for Solaris Operating System (SPARC), Part No. B10814-01
  • Oracle Database Installation Guide, 10g Release 1 (10.1) for UNIX Systems: AIX-Based Systems, hp HP-UX, hp Tru64 UNIX, Linux, and Solaris Operating System, Part No. B10811-05

The quick installation guide will give you a condensed overview of the installation process while the database installation guide will provide more detailed information. You can view the documents in either HTML or PDF.
