From looking at the certification matrix, it appears that no available version of OEM 10g Grid Control (from 10.1.0.0 to 10.1.0.3) is certified for Linux ES4. The certified platforms are Red Hat Enterprise AS/ES 2.1 and 3, as well as SLES 8 and 9. This might be the cause of your problem since the installation process will run through certain system checks prior to commencing the installation process. If Linux ES4 is not a supported platform, you may encounter problems installing OEM 10 Grid Control.

You can view the certification matrix on Oracle Technology Network.
