I know RMAN backs up to disk, but I don't know how to take a backup onto tape using Veritas. Thanks for you help.

Most of the documentation you will need should come from Veritas. Contact the vendor for information on how to use their product with RMAN. Vendors like Veritas and Legato have worked hard to ensure that their products work with RMAN. In some cases, such as using an automated tape library system, the vendor will require additional funds for software to act as a middleman between RMAN and their library system.
