How can I get my data from the .dmp files?

I have problem with importing data in Oracle 8.0.6. My server gave me a problem, so I created a backup file with .dmp extension. Then I reloaded my server with the same version of Oracle & developer. But now I have a problem with importing the data from the .dmp files -- I get an "access denied" error. Any idea how I can get my data from the .dmp files?

Sounds like an Unix access error, try running "ls -l " on the .dmp file, and make sure you have read access to the file.
