Q

Get familiar with the Database Resource Manager facility

I am going to use Oracle's explain plan. But I want to define the high threshold cost. When queries' costs are over this threshold, cost cannot be executed.

This threshold cost can be a range of values specified by a DBA depending of the database performance. The DBA can change this value.

I would like to know whether Oracle supports this threshold cost. How can I determine the lowest and the highest values?

Oracle provides the Database Resource Manager facility, with which you can limit the resources used by a particular session or SQL statement. You define a profile, configure its limits, and then assign the profile to the desired user(s). See the Administrator's Guide for details.
