I am installing Oracle 10g on MS Windows 2003 Server. During the installation I get the following error: "Failure when initializing OCR." Next, the error: "Install program cannot initialize service OracleCSService." I select "retry" and the installation continues normally. The last error is "DIM-00019: Error when creating the service. O/S-Error: (OS 1388) a member of the local group cannot be added nor be cleared because the member does not exist."
I have seen in the log intallation file that the error is when the program tries to execute: D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_2\bin\clscfg.exe -local -o D:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_2 -l AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 If I try to execute in a command prompt the file clscfg.exe, the following error appears: "SCLS error 1 reading current privileges. Internal Error Information: Category:1234 Operation: scls_iddb_has_privgrp_by_name Location: NetLocalGrou Other: get local group failed Dep: 0." I am logged in with an Administrator account in this server. This user belongs to the ORA-DBA group. Any ideas?
There has been a problem reported very similar to this when installing Oracle 10gR1. The workaround to this is to start the installation again. When you see the OS 1388 error, do not stop the installation, navigate to the Services panel and start the oracleservice(ORACLE_SID) service and continue the installation.
