My environment is BrightStor ARCserve Backup 11.5 SP1 on RHEL 4.0 with Oracle 9i. While backing up the Oracle database, I got the following errors:

05/31 13:04:39(2786) - AX-RMAN RMAN-03004: fatal error during execution of command

05/31 13:04:39(2786) - AX-RMAN RMAN-10038: database session for channel dev1_1 terminated unexpectedly
Please help and let me know if it is a problem with my tape drive, ARCserve or OS.

This is a problem with ARCserve or a network problem. The RMAN-10038 error is telling me that communication with the ARCserve service was terminated. I have never worked with ARCserve so I cannot help you much more than that.
